HCA Ethos Group
At HCA School, we love running our pupil led Ethos group. Our job in school is to make sure everyone feels safe and happy.
Our Ethos group helps everyone understand more about our Christian values and how children and adults can apply these values in their every day lives. We believe through values we have made our school community better citizens and act as good people to help others.
When you are a member of the Ethos group, you have to lead by example and ensure everyone is flourishing in school.
This year the Ethos Group has created a plan which outlines their key actions. They also use the school development plan to support their work in school.
This year our mains actions are too:
Develop a whole school reflection space that supports our Christian values (100 acts of kindness)
Plan, lead and deliver a whole school prayer space day
Introduce mindfulness and guided meditation across school
Last year we worked really hard to introduce Heartsmart across school. This is a program that helps us to 'let love in' and equips us with self-compassion, grit, empathy, truth and the ability to process negative emotions.
We took part in the 'Big Cumbria Litter Pick' and cleaned up the village. We collected over 10 bin liners full of rubbish!
We also worked hard to plan and delvier an amazing ‘Guardian Angel’ week, where each junior partnered up with a younger child as their secret guardian angel, sharing kind words of affirmation and making nice gifts each day. This resulted in a wonderful celebration.
