YEAR 5 & 6
Welcome to year 5 & 6!
This term we will be reading our new class book ‘Skellig’ by David Almond. The story is about a young boy called Michael, who, whilst moving in to a new house and having to deal with his sister being ill, discovers a mystical creature in his garage. We will be looking at many of our school values through the book such as thankfulness, courage and trust.
This term we will be completing blocks of learning – in Science we will be looking at life cycles and animal classification – then after half term we will be moving onto history where we will be learning all about The Ancient Greeks.
The children are excited that Ellie, one of our PE specialists, will be coming in for 6 weeks to train up our Year 5 and 6 class to become play leaders. They will then be able to organise and coordinate playtime sport activities for the younger children in the school.
We will be taking part in weekly ‘Heart smart’ PSHE lessons. We think this will be a great benefit to the children, especially after Lockdown where we can talk through any issues or worries they may have. We will be especially looking at how we can love ourselves and others, as well as looking at what it means to ‘Be Kind’.
